I have installed the Forza Horizon 4 in Windows 10 and it works fine on my Surface Pro 5. Recently the tablet is installed the version 2004 updates and it runs into something wrong. When I try to launch it, the the slpash screen appears and then exits. I make a fresh installation and reset Windows Store and Xbox live app. The game still keeps crashing on startup. How can I resolve the problem?

The program ForzaHorizon4.exe is not just interacting with Windows 10 after version 2004 updates. The event viewer displays the Exception code 0xc0000005 for that. Some related settings turns the game to crash and you could try any of the methods to troubleshoot that and fix the issue.

Disable the Xbox Game Bar feature
* Right-click or hold-and-press on the task bar and select Task Manager option from menu.
* Under the Process tab, locate the Xbox Game Bar from list, select it and click on End task button at the right-bottom corner. Finally I am able to play the Forza Horizon 4. It runs fine with a multiplayer session or alt-tabbing shortcuts.
* You can also disable Game Bar permanently. Open the Settings app from Start menu, go to Gaming > Game Bar, change those switch to Off, including Record game clips, Screenshots, and Broadcast using Game Bar.

Other tips
* If some USB audio device are connected with your computer or tablet, you’d better remove it to check if it is fine. For example, a razer kraken or similar USB headset may makes FH4 crashing. I unplug it and the game launchs normally.
* You need to force the windows clock to synch with time server. Open the Start menu, click the Setting app, and go to Time & Language > Date & time. Under “Synchronize your clock,” click the Sync now button.

For MSI laptop, it is pre-installed the Nahimic audio software to boosts the audio and voice performance. But that causes the Forza Horizon not working.
* Type services.msc into the search box, and select the top one from result.
* Double-click on the Nahimic Service, click Stop button, change its startup status to Disable, and click OK button. Then make a rebooting to apply changes.

As the main .exe has been changed to Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame_1.380.112.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.exe, if you run things like Rivatuner, MSI Afterburner, Wallpaper Engine and other similar apps, their built-in exception list will have ForzaHorizon4.exe listed
To work around this you’ll need to add a user exception to not inject it’s overlay into the new exe name. Any DLL injection into FH4 is frowned upon from its scanner (and will cause crashes even in the Microsoft Store version).
